Get Yourself Together⦠No one said gratitude would be easy.
Who told us gratitude was supposed to be a walk in the park? Life is challenging, unfair, and often cruel. Itās easy to justify resentment, especially when the world seems to be against you. But letās get one thing straightā gratitude and courage arenāt just feelings; theyāre disciplines to be cultivated.
This November, our theme is āThe Grateful Manās Guide to Disciplineā. Why? Because gratitude isnāt just about saying āthank youā when life is good; itās about standing tall and being a man of God even when the chips are down. As we honor our veterans and celebrate Thanksgiving, letās remember that true thankfulness is a roarāa courageous declaration that we recognize our blessings, even in the face of adversity. Itās a call to discipline, to cultivate a spirit of gratitude that empowers us to be better men, better leaders, and better warriors in the kingdom of God.
The James 1:2 Challenge:
āConsider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.ā
This isnāt a suggestion; itās a call to arms. Life is a battlefield, and gratitude is your weapon. Donāt just wait for it to happen; fight for it.
Recently my girlfriend and I have noticed the enemy trying to distract us from the beauty of our circumstances. We all have our strugglesābalancing careers, finances, relationships, and personal growth. Itās exhausting, but letās not forget the blessings amidst the chaos. Iāve found purpose and mentorship at Blueprint for Men, and many of you have your own lights in the darkness. Recognize them, cherish them.
Miracles Are Everywhere:
We are so blind sometimes⦠Letās not overlook the everyday miraclesāthe people who, despite their suffering, make our lives a bit easier. The guy who ensures your electricity runs, and the woman who serves your morning coffee (or non-caffeinated beverage) ātheyāre heroes in their own right. Sure, life may beat you to a pulp, but even so, can you honestly say thereās a better response to lifeās challenges than gratitude?
Your Secret Weapon:
Okay great, cultivating gratitude is awesome, but what is an actionable strategy? The secret is revealed in John 16:24
āUntil now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.ā
If we ask for something in the name of Jesus he promises to answer us if we have the right motives. Ask Him to open your eyes to see and mouth to praise Him for His blessings in the midst of your suffering. Ask Him to reveal how he is transforming you into a better man. Ask Him for His gifts so you can give further to those around you.
Call To Action:
Letās challenge ourselves to be better men by recognizing the miracles around us and giving back in any way we can. Because, in the end, gratitude isnāt just about you; itās about enriching the world around you.
Hereās to Building Together with Him!
