For thousands of years the majority of men lived outside and labored with their hands. Jesus himself was intimately connected with the earth.ย From the time of his birth till the day he died he was surrounded by the sights and sounds of the world that he and his Father had created.
And it was from these day-to-day experiences and observations that he extracted much of his teachings which were presented in parables and object lessons. It was his method of communicating eternal truths!
“All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:”ย Matthew 13:34ย
Jesus is the Blueprint for Men. He is our model for observing, thinking, teaching and… everything! Since he used this method, it only seems logical that we should do the same.
We should try to spend as much time outside as we can. But not just to aimlessly wander around, but to have our senses and minds open to what God is telling us through his vast and wonderful book of nature. This is the great lesson book that God created long before the first words of scripture were penned by the prophets.
Most men feel closer to God when they are out in nature away from the distractions of the artificial world we have created. Away from screens, away from exhaust, away from noise.
But most men don’t think deeply enough to make the connections between spiritual truths found in the Bible and those that are reflected in nature. Most men have never been trained on how to develop this important skill.
During this video presentation I will share some important concepts that I have discovered about “Unlocking the Book of Nature” during my 30-year career as a science teacher and outdoor educator.
“GOD’S BOOK OF NATURE” is a multi-part video series so stay tuned for Part 2 next week. It’s important to note that these videos can be found on our YouTube channel for future reference.
